Managed WAN
Managed WAN is a WAN service at a site, with hardware that Wanscale monitors for you. Order it in the Wanscale Control Center, attach the CPE when the device is on site, then watch health and traffic on the overview.
Use Managed WAN on its own, or name it as the optional upstream for a Service Edge WAN interface.
Order a Managed WAN
Talk to Wanscale if you want help choosing hardware. You can also create the service yourself.

- Navigate to the Home page of the Wanscale Control Center.
- Click Add Service.
- Select Managed WAN.
- Click Go to service form.
- Under General, complete:
- Label: Enter a name you will recognise later.
- Tags (optional): Add labels for your own organisation.
- Under CPE, either:
- Click Attach CPE if the device is already on site, then select CPE type (Teltonika), enter the Serial printed on the device, and continue; or
- Click Attach later and attach the CPE after delivery.
- Click Submit.
Control Center opens the Managed WAN overview.
Overview and health
The overview puts operational health first. At the top you see whether the service is Up, Down, or Degraded, together with Last seen.
When a CPE is attached and reporting, the overview shows:
- CPE — type, serial, and uptime.
- Data usage & traffic — total consumption plus Download and Upload, when the device reports them.
When the connection is cellular
If this Managed WAN uses a cellular connection, the overview also shows live radio health:
- Signal quality — coverage at a glance, with the serving cell.
- Signal metrics — live RSSI, RSRP, SINR, and RSRQ.
- Provider and connection type (for example under Teltonika details), when available.
Info
Live readings appear after a CPE is attached and the device is reporting. Until then the overview explains that current values are unavailable.
Click Actions for day-to-day changes. Attach, replace, location, and delete sit in this menu so they are harder to trigger by accident.
Device details
Navigate to Device details in the sidebar for addressing on the CPE:
- Network & IP configuration — WAN IP, LAN IP, LAN MAC, WLAN MAC, and connection State.
If this Managed WAN uses a cellular connection, Device details also shows radio and SIM identifiers:
- Cell identifiers when the device reports them (PLMN, Cell ID / TAC).
- SIM & identifiers — SIM state (including slot and eSIM when relevant), ICCID, IMSI, and IMEI.
Attach or replace CPE
Attach the CPE when the device is on site. Replace it if you swap hardware.
Attach a CPE
- Navigate to the Managed WAN overview.
- Click Actions.
- Click Attach CPE.
- Select CPE type (Teltonika).
- Enter the Serial printed on the device.
- Click Attach CPE.
If you already attached a CPE during order, skip this step.
Replace a CPE
- Navigate to the Managed WAN overview.
- Click Actions.
- Click Replace CPE.
- Enter the Serial of the new device.
- Click Replace CPE.
Control Center deactivates the previous CPE. Navigate to CPE history in the sidebar to see earlier serials, with Attached and Deactivated dates.
Warning
You cannot delete a Managed WAN while a Service Edge WAN interface still names it as upstream. Unlink those interfaces first. See Use Managed WAN with a Service Edge.
Assign a site location
Assign an address so maps and your location inventory stay accurate. When no location is set, the Location card shows a warning and a Fix button.
- Navigate to the Managed WAN overview.
- Click Actions, then Set location (or Edit location if one is already set). You can also click Fix on the Location card.
- Choose Select Existing Location to reuse a site, or Create New Location.
- For a new location, enter Location name and Address (or toggle Use coordinates), then complete House number.
- Click Save.
The Location card then shows the address and a map preview.
To see every site and which services sit there, navigate to Admin and open Locations. That list shows the active services assigned to each site, including Service Edges and Managed WAN devices.
Use Managed WAN with a Service Edge
A Service Edge WAN interface can optionally name this Managed WAN as its upstream. That records which Managed WAN belongs with the WAN port. It does not change how the WAN interface is addressed.
Configure the link from the Service Edge: Configure WAN interfaces. Linked WAN interfaces also appear on the Managed WAN CPE card. To remove a link from here:
- On the CPE card, find the WAN interface under WAN interfaces.
- Click Unlink WAN interface.
- Confirm with Unlink.
Note
Applying Changes: Like other networking services in Control Center, some configuration is not active until you deploy pending changes. See Workflows and Applying Changes.
