Metric Manager

Metric Manager is the service you order so metrics and reporting are available in Control Center. It unlocks metrics under Reporting. Charts do not live on the Metric Manager overview.

Charts live on the Metrics dashboard. The Metric Manager overview shows the service, its level, and a way into that dashboard. Without an active Metric Manager, Control Center tells you that a Metric Manager service must be ordered before you can view more metric information.

Order a Metric Manager

  1. Navigate to the Home page of the Wanscale Control Center.
  2. Click Add Service.
  3. Select Metric Manager.
  4. Click Go to service form.
  5. Complete the form:
    • Label: Enter a name you will recognise later.
    • Tags (optional): Add labels for your own organisation.
    • Metric Manager Level: Choose how much metric depth is available — from essential charts to the richest dataset. The levels are Basic, Advanced, Premium, and Enterprise.
  6. Click Submit.

Control Center opens the Metric Manager overview.

Overview

The overview is a service page, not a chart home. You see:

  • Core service details (name, tags, deployment status).
  • Metric Manager Level — how much metric depth this service unlocks.
  • Metrics dashboard — a card that describes live performance charts, with Open metrics dashboard. Saved filtersets appear here as links when you have any.

If you have not saved filters yet, an alert explains that and offers Open metrics.

Click Actions for day-to-day changes: name, tags, Change level, and Delete Metric Manager. Change level lets you pick Metric Manager Level again.

Open the Metrics dashboard

This is where reporting charts live. It is separate from the Metric Manager overview.

  1. Navigate to the Metric Manager overview.
  2. Click Open metrics dashboard.

On the dashboard:

  1. Optionally choose a saved filterset.
  2. Under Filters, select Service type and Service.
  3. Select the metrics you want, such as Download, Upload, Latency, Packet Loss, or Jitter — what you can pick depends on the service type.
  4. Choose a Period (for example Last hour or Custom period).
  5. Apply the filters. Charts appear below. Metrics with different units show in separate charts.

You can save the current filters as a filterset (Save filterset) so the overview can open them again.

Service types you can report on include Service edge, Internet, DC Connect, DC Port, Cloud Connect, and Fortinet Firewall.

Info

Changing service type, service, or a custom time range resets related fields so you cannot submit a combination that does not work.

Note

Applying Changes: Like other services in Control Center, some configuration is not active until you deploy pending changes. See Workflows and Applying Changes.
