DC Port

The Wanscale Platform extends to the datacenter through services such as DC Connect and L2 Connect. These services require a physical connection point known as a DC Port.

Ordering a DC Port

Follow these steps to order a new DC Port via the Wanscale Portal:

  1. Navigate to the Home page of the Wanscale Platform.
  2. Click the Add Service button.
  3. Select DC Port from the service list.
  4. Click Go to service form.
  5. Complete the following fields in the service form:
    • Port Label: Enter a descriptive name for the port.
    • Tags (Optional): Add metadata for internal organization.
    • Datacenter: Select your preferred location from the dropdown menu.
    • Speed: Select either 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps.
    • Diversity: Choose an Availability Zone.
  6. Click Submit.

Warning

Redundancy Note: To ensure service redundancy, order multiple DC Ports and assign them to different Availability Zones during the ordering process.

Post-Ordering Instructions

  1. Physical Connection The connection method depends on your specific setup:

    • Standard Connection: If connecting to your own equipment, a physical patch must be installed between the racks. Wanscale will provide a Letter of Authorization (LOA) if you are performing the installation, or Wanscale can perform the install on your behalf.
    • Managed Firewall Connection: If connecting to a Fortigate Firewall hosted in a Wanscale rack, Wanscale will manage the patching automatically.
  2. Port Activation (Turn Up) To transition a DC Port from Ordered to Delivered status, Wanscale requires the CableID from the patch.

    • Current Process: Contact Wanscale to provide your CableID.
    • Future Update: A self-service field to enter the CableID will be added to the portal in a future release.

Technical Verification: If you are on-site for installation, you may call Wanscale during business hours to verify RX/TX and optical values in real-time.

Note

Applying Changes: Like all networking services in the portal, your new DC Port(s) will not be active until you deploy the changes. See Workflows and Applying Changes.
